724 tonnes not thrown away: the environmental impact of the Ohnola washing pad

An internal estimate of the disposable-pad waste avoided between August 2022 and December 2025 — and an open look at exactly how we calculated it.
Saying a big number is easy. The hard part is showing where it came from. Based on our own sales data from August 2022 to December 2025, SOULLABS estimates that roughly 724 tonnes of disposable-pad waste were never created.
The starting point is real usage. One small dog generates about 67kg of disposable pet-pad waste per year. The Ohnola washing pad is designed for 200+ water-wash reuses, which can cut that annual waste by up to 99%.
We multiply that by units actually sold, then apply a conservative factor for pads replaced early or abandoned mid-life. This is an internal estimate, not third-party verified data. The water and electricity used for washing, plus packaging and logistics emissions, are not subtracted here.
That is why we treat 724 tonnes as a baseline rather than an achievement. Next we want real-world washing data to sharpen the factor. If the number goes down, we will publish the number that goes down.
